Putting LedgerOS on your phone
LedgerOS runs in your browser, and it also installs to your home screen so it opens like any other app — straight to the camera, full screen, no tab to find. It takes about thirty seconds. Pick your phone below.
iPhone and iPad
Read this first: it has to be Safari
Apple only lets Safari add web apps to the home screen. If you are reading this in Chrome, Firefox or a link opened inside Facebook, Instagram or Gmail, the option below simply will not be there — and nothing is wrong with your phone.
If you are in one of those, tap the ••• or Share menu and choose Open in Safari first.

Open LedgerOS in Safari
Go to ledgeros.nextwave.au/app and sign in, or create your account.

Tap the Share button
The square with an arrow pointing up. On an iPhone it sits in the bar at the bottom of the screen; on an iPad it is at the top right.
If the bottom bar is hidden because you have scrolled, scroll up slightly and it reappears.

Scroll down to “Add to Home Screen”
It is partway down the list, past the sharing options and below Add to Reading List. If you do not see it, keep scrolling — or tap Edit Actions at the very bottom and turn it on.

Tap “Add”
Top right corner. The LedgerOS icon appears on your home screen with your other apps. Open it from there from now on, not from Safari.
Why this matters more on iPhone than anywhere else
Safari deletes a website’s saved data if you do not visit for seven days. Installed home-screen apps are exempt. Add LedgerOS to your home screen and it keeps working between BAS quarters; leave it as a Safari tab and it may ask you to sign in again after a quiet fortnight.
Android
Most Android users should just get the app from Google Play — it is the same LedgerOS, the same account, and it updates itself. The steps below are for using the web version from your home screen instead, which works identically.

Open LedgerOS in Chrome
Go to ledgeros.nextwave.au/app and sign in.

Take the offer, if Chrome makes one
Chrome often shows its own Install banner, or LedgerOS will ask you once you have captured a receipt. Either one is the quickest route — tap Install and you are finished.

Otherwise, open the browser menu
The ⋮ in the top right corner of Chrome.

Tap “Install app” or “Add to Home screen”
The wording depends on your Chrome version; both do the same thing. On Samsung Internet it is Add page to → Home screen.

Confirm
The icon appears in your app drawer and on your home screen. Open it from there and it runs full screen, without the browser bar.
If you do not see an install option at all
You are almost certainly not in Chrome. Links opened inside Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp or Gmail run in a stripped-down browser that cannot install anything. Tap the ⋮ and choose Open in Chrome, then start again.
Installing the Android app file
If we have sent you the app as a file — an .apk — rather than a Play Store link, this is for you. It is the same app; it just has not come through Google’s shop, so Android will treat it with suspicion and interrupt you twice. Both interruptions are expected. Here is exactly what you will see, so nothing catches you out.

Download the file
Tap the link we sent. Chrome may warn that this type of file can harm your device — that warning appears for every app file, from anyone. Tap Download anyway.

Open it from your notifications or Files
Tap the completed download, or find it in Files → Downloads.

Allow this one app to install
Android asks whether Chrome (or Files) may install apps. Tap Settings, turn on Allow from this source, then press back.
This permission is per-app and you can turn it off again afterwards. It does not open your phone up generally.

The “Unsafe app blocked” screen — do not stop here
Play Protect will show a red warning saying the app was blocked. It is not saying LedgerOS is malware; it is saying it has not seen this file distributed through Google Play before. The button you need is hidden.
Tap More details — the small text at the bottom, not the obvious OK button. Then tap Install anyway. Nothing happens if you tap OK: the install is simply cancelled.

Install, then open
The install finishes in a few seconds. You may be offered a scan of the app afterwards — accept it if you like; it changes nothing.
Would you rather avoid all of that?
Use the Play Store version or the web app at ledgeros.nextwave.au/app. Neither shows any of these warnings, and both sign in to the same account with the same data. The file is only for testers and early access.
On a computer
Nothing to install — open ledgeros.nextwave.au/app and sign in. It is the same account as your phone, so receipts you photograph on the way home are there when you sit down.
If you would like it in your dock or taskbar anyway, Chrome and Edge show an install icon in the address bar — a small screen with an arrow — or you will find Install LedgerOS in the ⋮ menu. Safari on Mac has File → Add to Dock.
